Accessorizing your dream gown is a huge part of the styling process, and it’s important to pick out the best pieces that work well with your gown. With the start of a new year, comes Pantone’s big announcement – the Pantone Color of the Year.  The 2017 color of the year is GREENERY! We’ve put together our favorite ways to incorporate this color into your upcoming nuptials.

Pantone describes the color of the year as, “A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.” With a color that is the symbol of new beginnings, your wedding is sure to start off on the right foot.

Our favorite ways to be inspired by Greenery..

Bridesmaids: Let your favorite gals glow in a gorgeous shade of green. We love our Sorella Vita bridesmaid gowns in Evergreen. A perfect homage to the Greenery shade while keeping it neutral.

Décor: It’s easy to add hints of green to your décor using various types of leaves and plants. Think garlands of bay leaves and centerpieces with leafy accents. Even if you don’t use the actual Greenery color, it’s easy to add little touches inspired by the biggest color of the year.

Choosing your bridal gown is arguably one of the biggest decisions of your life.. so why not think outside the box! We've compiled a list of some of the hottest trends in bridal that we are loving.

1.     Illusion – whether it be on your neckline or on your back, we love the illusion trend. Just like the name says, it gives you the illusion of having bare skin without losing the feeling of support. When trying it on, some brides worry that it will be visible or won’t lay comfortably, but don’t worry. When you say yes to a dress with any illusion style, we make sure we order the best color to match your skin tone. Once your gown is ordered in your size and altered to perfection, the illusion will lay flush against your skin and will virtually disappear.

2.     Dramatic Trains – Now, this may seem like an obvious one. However, some brides try to steer away from trains because they’re worried about it getting stepped on. Luckily, anything with a train will bustle. There are many ways to bustle a gown, and you won’t have to worry about your dress getting trampled on by your guests. Plus, you won’t have to sacrifice having a gorgeous train in your wedding photos!

3.     Low Backs – Opting for a dress with a low back is a great way to show some skin without feeling too revealing. Open and low back dresses really accentuate the figure and looks great in photos. We often are asked about removing straps on dramatically low gowns. Unfortunately, to have a very dramatic open or low back, straps are a necessity to ensure the gown stays on properly. If you were to have a strapless gown with a low back, there’s no way to have the gown stay up. There are strapless gowns that show off the back, but the best way to have an extremely low back gown is to opt for something with straps!

4.     Floral Details – At Ivory Row, we love gowns with a little bit of a natural element. Whether it be a floral lace pattern or intricate and leafy straps, we love gowns that have a little bit of flower power.

5.     Out Of The Box Colors – Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely LOVE gowns in classic shades of white and ivory. However, we also love when a bride isn’t afraid to dabble in different colors!

Trying on gowns for the first time is very exciting, but can also be a little nerve-wracking for some brides. We’ve put together some tips to ensure your dress shopping experience is a fun and memorable one.

Before Your Appointment:

·       Who Should I Bring? - Our suggested group size is usually between 3-4. You’re more than welcome to bring as many as you’d like, but sometimes it can become a little overwhelming when you are hearing opinions from a larger party. If you are having a larger party, we simply ask you let us know a head count before the appointment to ensure we have adequate seating set up for your guests.

·       Bring Photos – We love to see ideas of what you imagine yourself in on your wedding day! Showing us your Pinterest boards or images of gowns you already love helps your consultant get a better idea of what you are envisioning and will assist them in making dress suggestions. Our website is also updated with a gallery of all our gowns in store if you’d like to peek at our selection before your appointment.  

·       Budget – It’s important to have an idea of where you’d like to be, price point wise, before your appointment. This helps us find the best dress for you at a price you’re comfortable with.

·       Appropriate Undergarments – Typically our gowns have some form of corsetry and support built in, so you’re more than welcome to try them on without a bra. For underwear, we suggest something nude colored and not too lacy. Lace is easy to get stuck in zippers and clasps and we would hate for anything to tear.  

During Your Appointment:

·       Don’t be afraid to try on something you wouldn’t typically consider. You never know what you may end up loving on!

·       Be Honest – Tell us exactly what you love and what you dislike about a dress. Your feedback helps us determine what other dresses we can suggest to you that you may not have thought of.

After Your Appointment:

·        Is it normal if I feel like I found my dress at my first appointment? Yes! It’s not uncommon to find the gown of your dreams at your first appointment.

·       What if I’m torn between two gowns? When you are trying on wedding gowns, you want to make sure you feel like yourself on your wedding day. Sometimes it takes a few days for the feeling to settle.. You’ll find yourself thinking about one of the dresses more than the others.

·       It’s great to give yourself time to decide what dress you are saying yes to, but don’t wait too long! Our gowns typically take 4 to 5 months to arrive, and you then want to allow 6-8 weeks for alterations. If you’re on a shorter time crunch, some of our designers do have rush and stock options, so don’t fret! We at Ivory Row will do everything we can to help make your bridal dreams a reality.

Frequently Asked Questions:

·         How long does my appointment last?

o   We book you in for 2 hours. Sometimes it’s quicker than that, and other times you’re here a little bit longer. Both of those scenarios are okay!

·         Can I bring champagne?

o   We do not have a liquor license, so you are not allowed to bring champagne or any other alcohol. However, there are lots of great restaurants in the area where you can go and celebrate your new gown!

·         Can we take photos of the gowns during the appointment?

o   Yes! You are welcome to take photos of the gowns. Sometimes there are specific events where photos are not allowed, but we will always let you know ahead of time if that is the case.
